Friends of Sherbourne Valley Way

You’ve probably heard of the River Sherbourne.  We’d like to tell you about a new group that is being set up to help people enjoy this special river.

Sherbourne Trust have worked to create a route along the River Sherbourne on existing public footpaths from Corley Moor, through the city centre and on to the River Sowe outside Baginton.  The route takes in many historical sites, ancient pasturelands and industrial heritage and yet it is largely unknown by Coventry’s citizens. The aim is to offer a way to appreciate all of these aspects of Coventry and to give an introduction to the ancient practice of pilgrimage.  Last year saw the first part of the route published and walked as part of Coventry Pilgrimage.  (for here)

In order to continue this work, we are hoping in 2014 to set up ‘Friends of the Sherbourne Valley Way’ offering pilgrimages along the route and exploring  opportunities to both maintain and promote the route and to establish contemplative spaces along it.
